Shop Till I Drop

We all love a good shopping spree, and with all these mid-year sales happening, it’s the perfect time to go grab a bargain! The funds were looking good so I decided it was time to treat myself, so I grabbed my gal pal Mel and we hit the shops to do some damage!

I headed to Pacific Fair because let’s be honest, it’s the ULTIMATE shopping destination on the Gold Coast am I right? It was a perfect day to shop, the sky was grey and it was quite chilly. Anyway let’s see what I got!

My first stop was Lush Cosmetics! I LOVE this place. People who know me know that take a lot of baths (like A LOT) so I was definitely in need of a new bath bomb to try out. While I was there I also got one of their amazing face mask pots and I also decided to try out a new product called ‘Tea Tree Water’. It’s a spray that is used as a toner for oily skin like mine! I’m hoping it will Keep my skin clear and refreshed!

My next purchase is one I am pretty excited about. I LOVE shoes, and Aquila was having a sale! I am graduating from university in July and I really wanted some nice shoes to wear to my ceremony and just to have for any other special occasion of formal outing.

Style: Glenfield $149

I found these STUNNING black leather shoes with a raw brown sole. I liked them because the different coloured sole provides a stunning contrast, making this shoe stand out from the rest. They are also very versatile as they could be paired with any suit or dress chino pant.

The shoe saga continues as I find myself in HYPE DC. I had been eyeing down a pair of woven black leather shoes for a while and I just about had a heart attack when I discovered these were on sale! So I snatched them up for a huge bargain!

Style: Paolo $139

A casual silhouette with an intricately woven leather upper, low cut collar and slim sole. The striking detail and soft materials of this shoe make it a smart addition to my summer wardrobe.

A successful day of shopping if I do say so myself!

Soo Joo Park

This beauty hardly needs an introduction. She has dominated the catwalks, and appeared in every major magazine from ELLE to W Magazine and of course, Vogue. The fashion spotlight has certainly had its’ focus on Soo Joo Park.

Soo Joo Park (28) is a well-known model who made her modelling debut back in 2013. Soo Joo was born in Seoul, South Korea, and grew up there until she was 10. Her family then moved to California. Interestingly, modelling was an accidental career for Park. She studied architecture and shortly after graduating, was scouted to start modelling. Living in San Francisco, she had a full-time job doing graphic design for a start-up web company. One fateful weekend, she was shopping in a vintage store and was discovered, being asked if she was interested in modelling, her answer: sure, why not?

Soo Joo’s career took off after she met renowned stylist Carine Roitfeld and shot her for her CR Fashion Book. She was then recommended to designers among the likes of Karl Lagerfeld and Tom Ford. After her encounter with Lagerfeld, it wasn’t long before she was walking the Chanel Spring 2013 Haute Couture show at the Grand Palais in Paris. It proved to be the turning point in her career as she walked for everyone from Fendi to Lanvin since.

In an interview, Park discussed how she doesn’t see herself as an Asian model and that part of the reason she bleached her hair was so that wouldn’t be type-casted as an Asian model by the industry or designers. She is still an unmistakeable presence in the fashion industry and will continue to be with her eclectic personality. Soo Joo has a cool, 80’s, rebellious style and a VERY addictive Instagram feed! Moschino Resort 2018 Collection

Moschino brings Sin City to L.A.

Jeremy Scott has WOWED the fashion world again with another SPECTACULAR collection! Last night’s Moschino show in Hollywood was inspired by L.A. and Las Vegas, two cities for dreamers, two cities FULL of inspiration. His collection was presented as an idea of a road trip from L.A. to Las Vegas.

For his Moschino resort 2018 and men’s spring 2018 collections, Jeremy Scott went on a Wild West road trip to celebrate symbols of Americana. Scott showcased these ‘Americana’ references throughout the collection with the use of bold colours and very eclectic clothing items. Biker Jackets, Sheer dresses, double denim, leotards, fringe, flame prints topped off with cowboy hats all while staying true to Jeremy Scott’s signature style. There was plenty of patchwork denim, mixed with sweet lace and florals. There were spangled satin bodysuits as well as bright bustier tops paired with embellished boyfriend jeans

Every piece is an impactful piece which brings out the inner child in all of us! In full Jeremy Scott style, this show was a spectacular that meets halfway between art and humour.

Front row attendees included Sarah Hyland, Vanessa Hudgens, Kate Beckinsale, Fergie and Joe Jonas!

CFDA Awards 2017 – Lookbook

Monday night’s celebration of artistic talent reminded everyone — beyond the designers, editors, stylist, and more — that what we wear (and the people who make it) holds weight in all aspects of our lives. Well-dressed celebs were out in full force as the fashion industry handed out its top honours in New York.

Here’s what stood out to me on the red carpet, and what I believe, are best dressed:

Her first big show was for Prada in September 2013. During her fittings, her hair was dyed bleach blonde. She liked it and decided to keep it that way, which has become her signature look. The same year, she debuted in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and advertised for American fashion house Moschino. Throughout her career she has walked for a bevy of top designers including Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Bottega Veneta, Balmain, Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera, Chanel, Dior, H&M, Herve Leger, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Jeremy Scott, Oscar De La Renta, Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford, JUST TO NAME A FEW.

Devon has appeared in numerous Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows. She debuted in 2013 and has become a regular in the show each year since then! In 2015, Devon secured a ‘Fit Model’ position with the brand making her the reference model for the designers and artisans as they create the looks for the show. As a fit model, Devon has all the outfits constructed on her body, and they are later made custom couture to whichever model they assign the look too! So basically she gets to try on every look for each show! Dream job am I right?

Why I (And Most Gay Men) Are Single!

(Little disclaimer to all the gays out there, this doesn’t apply to everyone! This is just what I personally have experienced! )

Let me explain,

Mine and every other gay man’s pool of potential partners is A LOT smaller than those of straight people! A lot of straight people are single too, there’s just A LOT more options for straight people to get with other straight people. So talking numbers, the chances of meeting ‘Mr. Right’ are pretty slim.

What I’ve noticed is a lot of gay men are attracted to attractiveness rather than personality and deeper values. We hate to admit it but it’s true. I also noticed it’s common that gay men are not monogamous. There are a lot of gay men who claim to want monogamy, but they can’t even behave monogamously themselves. Bottom line is, if you want monogamy, you have to be monogamous and if you really love someone, being faithful is effortless.

Too many gay men often seek guys who fit their idea of a perfect partner: perfect job, perfect look, perfect friends. STOP RIGHT THERE! You want a guy who loves you for your individual nature, and who might even clash with some aspects of your life, its natural.

Most gay men are alone because they have narrow standards and try to chase after ideas of a perfect man modelled in today’s popular culture. Let’s be honest, the majority of gay men depicted in television shows or on TV in general are pretty good looking and it’s become the standard that every gay man seeks. Personality is then completely overlooked.

Personally, the experience of growing up gay in a straight world is hard. I often experienced rejection in many ways by the time I became an adult. Whether it was being excluded at school or being rejected by someone I had a crush on. I  have developed defences against my fear of rejection, and those are what keeping me from opening up to other’s.

Let’s be frank. Gay men are and will continue to be extremely superficial and fussy. Which is why I am single!
