It’s that time of year again where the infamous Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show starts to take shape. As the days go by, we are closer and closer to hearing all the fabulous details of whats in store for this years runway extravaganza! It was rumoured that the show would take place in Shanghai, China after the lingerie giant opened a flagship store in in the city earlier this year. The opening of the flagship store will help satisfy the Chinese women’s “desire to keep up with the pace at the forefront of international fashion”. Victoria’s Secret later confirmed the location of Shanghai, China for this years show!

Parisian fashion house Balmain is partnering with Victoria’s Secret this year and will be sending Olivier Rousteing-designed lingerie down the runway. Not only will the pieces walk the runway, Balmain is also launching a capsule collection for Victoria’s Secret, which will be available to shop after the show airs on the 28th of November on CBS.

As for who will wear the coveted, diamond encrusted million dollar bra? That honour goes to angel Lais Ribeiro. The 27-year-old has been working with Victoria’s Secret since 2010, but this year will join the ranks of the supermodels who’ve worn the very-special bejewelled bra before her when she hits the Fashion Show runway in Shanghai later this month.

The $2 Million ‘Champagne Nights’ Fantsay Bra weighs more than 600 carats and is handset with diamonds, yellow sapphires, and blue topaz. This chest of jewels took over 350 hours to make and was hand-set with almost 6,000 gemstones.

The Balmain Army rallies together once again to conquer Paris Fashion Week, descending on the very opulent Garnier’s Opera House. The inspiration for the show and the collection derived from Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing’s visit to the parisian ballet when he was younger! Rousteing says it’s a dream come true to design for the ballet and showcase his collection in such a historic, iconic location.

The collection itself is probably Balmain’s most fashion-forward yet, featuring a handful of see-through, clear PVC skirts, coats and booties. The designer has managed to make the looks simultaneously dressy and effortless, with power suits and form-fitting dresses adorned with sequins and fringy details. While this is a fresh new fashion-forward look for the fashion house, the collection does stay true to it’s signature ‘Balmain’ style. As always, the Balmain Army featured a heavenly host of supermodels. To walk for Balmain is a top privilege for any model so the only the best of the best walked down the runway. Below are some of the looks worn by the industry’s top models, Including a few comebacks from models Karolina Kurkova and Magdalena Frackowiak who have been absent from fashion weeks for quite some time.

Balmain Spring/Summer 2018 Menswear

There’s an interesting collision of cultures at play when it comes to Balmain’s spring-summer 2018 collection. Creative director Olivier tackles a western Americana theme but filters it through a French lens. The American flag dissolves into a sea of stripes and stars as the Balmain man embraces a season of predominantly black and white.

Graphic to say the least, this collection goes bold with Balmain’s signature embellishments. It features elongated tops and tees that come together with flamboyant jackets. Skinny jeans and ankle boots contribute to Balmain’s fashion-friendly uniform. There’s also a hint of fringe and a generous supply of studs which all reinforcing Olivier’s ‘Balmain Army’ appeal.

Here’s a look book containing some of my favourite pieces from the collection!
