Cindy Bruna | Balmain SS/18

The Balmain Army rallies together once again to conquer Paris Fashion Week, descending on the very opulent Garnier’s Opera House. The inspiration for the show and the collection derived from Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing’s visit to the parisian ballet when he was younger! Rousteing says it’s a dream come true to design for the ballet and showcase his collection in such a historic, iconic location.

The collection itself is probably Balmain’s most fashion-forward yet, featuring a handful of see-through, clear PVC skirts, coats and booties. The designer has managed to make the looks simultaneously dressy and effortless, with power suits and form-fitting dresses adorned with sequins and fringy details. While this is a fresh new fashion-forward look for the fashion house, the collection does stay true to it’s signature ‘Balmain’ style. As always, the Balmain Army featured a heavenly host of supermodels. To walk for Balmain is a top privilege for any model so the only the best of the best walked down the runway. Below are some of the looks worn by the industry’s top models, Including a few comebacks from models Karolina Kurkova and Magdalena Frackowiak who have been absent from fashion weeks for quite some time.

Balmain Spring/Summer 2018 Menswear

There’s an interesting collision of cultures at play when it comes to Balmain’s spring-summer 2018 collection. Creative director Olivier tackles a western Americana theme but filters it through a French lens. The American flag dissolves into a sea of stripes and stars as the Balmain man embraces a season of predominantly black and white.

Graphic to say the least, this collection goes bold with Balmain’s signature embellishments. It features elongated tops and tees that come together with flamboyant jackets. Skinny jeans and ankle boots contribute to Balmain’s fashion-friendly uniform. There’s also a hint of fringe and a generous supply of studs which all reinforcing Olivier’s ‘Balmain Army’ appeal.

Here’s a look book containing some of my favourite pieces from the collection!
